When I was a teenager in Colombia, I used to watch MTV and think how cool it would be to come back to the U.S. and party like those people on TV and maybe join the cast of The Real World and live in a house with strangers...
What was I ever thinking?
It's amazing how things change.
'Video killed the Radio Star"...

It's been a while since I've posted anything here. It's been a while since I've committed to anything. A post takes commitment. I couldn't do commitment of any sort. Baby steps.
I feel like my life had fallen apart and I was in urgent need of doing some inventory control, categorizing the good, the bad, the useful, the useless, the much needed and a plan to get it. I'm in no way anywhere close to being where I should be, but for the first time in a very long time, I'm in a much better place, with a clearer view of what I need, what I want and what I have to do.
I was reckless.
Here's a thing I discovered: I keep people around for the sake of not being alone. Some I keep around because I know they're really great people, like my ex-boyfriend who I kept around because he's a wonderful, smart, caring, handsome man but our relationship ideals were different and our hearts were out-of-sync; then there's people that are completely worthless and I keep telling myself that they are not, simply because I once saw something good in them. It all became clutter. I thought I had all these people around me but I was really alone anyway. You're not in company if there's nothing that ties you to the people around you. You're alone.
Here's a thing I do: I run away from the people that love me and want to be with me. I run away from from the possibility of anyone getting too close. The ex-boyfriend wanted for us to move in together. I ran. I met a guy at a concert, he appeared to be really nice, he was good looking, had a great job, for the little that we talked, we had some in common, he called me a couple of days later and asked me out on a date. I made something up. I ran. I became friends with an intelligent, insightful man, he said we were on the verge of a relationship. I ran. In some of these cases, it was smart to run, in others, not-so-much...
For the first time in my life. I am consciously single and determined to be single until I find myself facing a relationship that will actually be good for me. No more games, no more bland companionship, no more adequacy and lack of fulfillment. I want the whole package or nothing at all.
I have a plan. I'm taking happiness and all forms. I had forgotten about how good the breeze feels on my skin or how rich books make me feel or how much fun it is to roll down the windows and blast my stereo.
'Tell me the truth, Frank, remember that? We used to live by it. And you know what's so good about the truth? Everyone knows what it is however long they've lived without it. No one forgets the truth, Frank, they just get better at lying.' - April, Revolutionary Road.
Revolutionary Road tells the story of monotony, how social standards and the notion of picketed fences and warm baked dinners served by apron-donning wives has killed the joy and sucked the life out of those who never dreamt of conformity or cookie-cutter lives. How corporate aspirations and the 9-5 routine has emptied you out leaving nothing but a shell and the reality of non-achieved dreams.
I didn't particularly feel like this film was a masterpiece. I must say though that it was in some ways an eye opener. There are things I don't want. I do want to LIVE, I do want to BE, I do want to stand over this land and move, go somewhere, feel.
'It takes backbone to lead the life you want.' - April, Revolutionary Road.
'Hopeless emptiness. Now you've said it. Plenty of people are onto the emptiness, but it takes real guts to see the hopelessness. ' - John Givings, Revolutionary Road.

As many of you already know, I ♥ L.A., specifically Hollywood. Also, as I hope you’ve noticed, Hollywood is crowded by not only tourists, club-goers, entrepreneurs, hipsters and chic adorable peeps but also homeless people that need a helping hand.
Food on Foot is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the poor and homeless of Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, and assistance in the transition to employment and life off the streets.
What’s better help to the city that I love and the people that live in it than providing some help that would cost nothing at all. Let’s help get the homeless off the street, lets help dress them for jobs, motivation and a better future.
This is what I want from you: Go through the things in your closet, dresser, old hamper and take out everything that you don’t wear anymore. Put it in a plastic bag and give me a call, I’ll either pick it up or if you feel extremely generous, you can drop it off at my place. I will be taking it to Food on Foot sometime next week.
If you have any questions, please let me know. If you have suggestions, call me immediately!

Olivia steps off the car. She's wearing fishnet stockings, badass black boots and a black shirt that's barely long enough to cover her. She walks into the club and looks around. Her sidekick is by her side, her friends greet her. She orders a beer from the bar, she smokes a cigarette, she mingles. At 2:30am, she leaves and makes her way to Hollywood Boulevard to her favorite late-night eatery, it's packed with douche-bags. Her friend and sidekick is having a hard time getting all these morons to leave them alone. It's ridiculous. She says 'ignore them', they order french fries and sodas. They ask for their names, they give them fake ones and smile, then look away. It's late, 4am. Time for bedtime. Time for sleep. Time for leaving the land of nothing and entering the land of dreams.
This is how it goes... She's a bitch because she can. She knows I adore her and I'll put up with it. She knows she's got me wrapped around her little finger (paw), she's aloof because it's her way of saying 'if I give you too much, I wont get exactly what I want'. Smart kitty.
She's obnoxious towards her little roommates (Pechan & Memphis) because she thinks they're pathetic for being needy and clingy with me and their mommies. She knows she's my favorite. She wont share, she wont play, she wont place herself in proximity to non-royal felines.
She's my sweet little queen bitch and I absolutely love her.
